starting the new year off with a bang!
as i mentioned in a previous post, i have two huge projects due by the end of the month…
for planning purposes, i decided to devote the first 15 days of the month to one, and the remaining 15 days of the month to the other.
i have been working like a dog to get the first quilt done. i can’t exactly say that i will finish it by the deadline i set for myself (just 3 days away!) especially since i will be working until almost 8 two nights this week, but i am pretty close. i am quilting it in quadrants, and almost have 3 of the 4 done. after that, squaring it up and binding should be a breeze.
i would’ve worked on it more, but it’s much bigger than anything i’ve ever made thus far, and also a lot heavier. after so many hours at the machine, my neck, shoulders, and arms really start to hurt. luckily, i have monday off, and then when i start my new job next week, i will be off at 2:30 on thursday and friday, which should give me a lot of quality time in the craft room, if i am not able to finish it up this weekend. here’s a sneak peek…but this is all i can disclose!
i tried to break up the monotony, yet also be productive, by starting to cut fabric for another project. (like i really need another one right?!) for christmas, my aunt and uncle got me an amazon gift card…and although there were so many different things i could of used it for, i ultimately decided to get an anna maria horner free spirit jelly roll
then, after searching through many jelly roll patterns, i decided on the hashtag quilt by camille roskelley. luckily i already own it!
however, instead of choosing white for the background, i drug brian to joann’s with me, and he helped me pick out a nice plum that isn’t photographing well, so you’ll just have to use your imagination
the pattern calls for 40 strips, and my jelly roll only came with 30, so i haven’t figured out how i’m going to remedy that problem yet
i’ve also got a good start going on my one little word january prompts, and will share pictures soon
i also want to tell you about another exciting project i have in the works, but i will save that for a rainy day, when i have nothing else to blog about
i’m still pretty happy with the progress i have already made in 2015, and will hopefully have more to report soon!
