the loss, return, and second loss of my sewing mojo

leading up to last weekend, i had lost my sewing mojo

i had all of the time, but none of the drive

i did manage to crank out these two birthday gifts

i made this drawstring bag for my coteacher, jenna. she is headed to puerto rico for spring break, and i thought it would be the perfect travel accessory. i used the next size up from the drawstring bags i made for everyone at christmas, and i love this size so much better! i totally want to make one for myself now. she told me her favorite colors are navy and purple, and i thought it would be fun to color block on the outside, and use the patterned fabric for the lining.

for our good friend ashley, who is one of the biggest wine lovers i know, i made a different type of drawstring bag, in her favorite colors of pink and purple. i even appliqued an “A” on front. you may recall the one i made for our other good friend katie last year

and i even made a special valentine’s day tee, after my little sister told me about the company serengetee. why can’t i ever come up with these good money making ideas?!

oh yea, plus i made this really big bee block for cheryl @ meadow mist designs. blue, my favorite color!

last weekend, while the indianapolis modern quilt guild (which i am not a member of) had a sewing retreat to brown county, my good friend ashlee and i had a sewing retreat to…my house lol.

although we had an agenda, we only sort of stuck to it

on friday, i spent the majority of the night finishing my supernova quilt, so i could meet our deadline. it was a challenge, but now it is done, and that’s all i have to say about that. if you want to know the whole story, you can refer back to this post

ashlee and i had so much fun with this quilt along/block swap project, that we decided to do another one on our own. we picked the free amsterdam pattern from cloud 9. we plan to make the tulips scrappy, using only floral prints, and low volume backgrounds. as a “gift” to start the weekend off right, i made our first flower, so it would be ready and waiting for her when she got to my house

i think this is going to be awesome!

on saturday, i worked a little bit on brian’s colts quilts, but i’m struggling with the design concept a bit, so of course i quickly pushed it aside once again.

for dinner, we had a visit from ashlee’s husband and this little guy…what a cutie!

i also fixed my bee block

the most exciting project of the weekend had to be our “work in progress” bags. i had seen them somewhere, and presented ashlee with the challenge…and boy did she deliver. she drafted the pattern, ordered the zippers, and we had at it

what a perfect way to organize, store, and travel with unfinished projects! so much better than ziploc baggies! i still have a few to make, but already have the bias and zippers ready

love love love these! can’t say it enough!

sunday we slept in, and didn’t get much done before ashlee had to head home to her kiddos…

since then, i have kind of lost the feeling again

i think the supernova REALLY drained me

this weekend i did manage to put together the first two sections of my gypsy wife quilt

and a quilt top out of this adorable hoarded fabric. i had every intention to sell this one, but i kind of want to keep it for my (way) future child, and have a space themed nursery. i already had an inquiry about it though, so i need to decide what to do #quilterproblems

wpid-img_20150221_120508.jpg

and this morning, proof of my crafting ADD, i decided to practice my zipper skills a little more (getting pretty confident with them now!) and made a small zipper pouch

wpid-img_20150222_093953.jpg

i was originally going to have the veggie fabric be the exterior, but have had a lot of fun lately reversing them, and making the lining the unexpected feature. i love it, but don’t know what to do with it, because i need another bag/pouch like a need a hole in the head! plus it’s pretty small. my good friend cheryl, who is a nursing student, said she wants to buy it to put her stethoscope and other supplies in, but i definitely don’t think it will fit lol

i think the problem is that none of my wip’s are currently exciting me, and the round robin that i have is really challenging me, but i finally did get some work done on it today, just didn’t take a pic

plus i feel like i should be wedding planning instead, but that’s just stressful

ugh

woe is me right? lol

i think i got caught up posting for the most part though, so that’s a success

plus i just found out that we finally have a 2 hour delay tomorrow (which i don’t know why because there were a few days last week that were WAY worse and we should’ve had them then, but i’m definitely not complaining!) so i can either stay up late and sleep in, or wake up early and try to get some crafting done, lol. i know, i’m a weirdo
